I want to know what it is about mid-ass bands like B**** N** that makes people out themselves as freaks like that one toad in the accountability thread

They keep showing Gardner Minshew on the Rays broadcast because he is there to watch his friend who got called up to play in the majors lol

 

Aside from their first 1.5, they were great. Fuck em and they should disappear but let's be real haha

Honestly it’s not a bit, the queer dating/relationship experience is completely different and her songs on this really encapsulate that. Like Lost Time is a fucking dagger for anyone who has been in a similar experience.

Eh, even with nuance the narrative to me is much more that they are overrated than anything. It’s honestly crazy that BN is still THIS much of a topic 8 years later. They were never THAT good of a band that people shouldn’t move on after 8 years lmao

Brand New was my favorite band in high school but now that I’ve discovered so much other music since then that’s even better,



wild to me people are STILL behaving like it’s some tragedy they got cancelled lol

 

I very strongly believe that being a POC or queer or anything of that nature does not exempt art from criticism even if the criticism isn’t coming from a member of that community/ the “target” audience

Oh yes they're definitely very overrated but that's what happens with four white men play rock music. better than whatever annual indie/post-punk bullshit gets propped up as an AOTY contender

 

I’m certainly not going to argue someone else’s perspective on how they relate to lyrics through their own sexuality/gender/etc. especially as a cis white man, that’s not my place, but I found myself not even able to pay attention to the lyrics because the music was so boring to me, like I couldn’t even concentrate on it

it's their first record in 11 years. the one before the hiatus is great. they should have just stayed retired.

i don't think it's authentic at all. i think it's an incredibly manufactured sound. i also could not care less about Brand New "ripping people off" or whatever. They ripped off interesting bands and made something interesting (mostly). Better than ripping off boring bands and making something even more boring haha
