Wouldn’t ever be surprised if Google AI lied to me and made up a name, since Sundar Pichai is basically just another Zuckerberg or Musk who wants to make excessive money by any means necessary, even off of misinformation if necessary, but virtue signaling people simply don’t realize it or hate him as much cause he’s not white. There’s a reason he was up there with Donald Trump at the inauguration.

people still largely believe Google to be trustworthy even though:

1) the top result is AI, that basically is an amalgam of all the information on the internet, prioritizing the most prevalent info… which means, if the most prevalent sources on the topic are misinformed, then so is the AI

2) the next few results are ads. Companies literally paying Google to put their sources at the top regardless of how much it matches validity for your search term

3) any result that isn’t popular or doesn’t pay enough to their SEO marketing team to get experts who actually understand how to get onto Google’s first page of search, simply gets buried. There are a lot of things both Dem-leaning AND Rep-leaning news sources want to hide from us that are just not searchable on Google. A large example of that, is accurate and fair reporting on Israel-Palestine. Since slanted news gets more search hits than less corporate sources of data, Google can hide this information from you too.

 

Big thing I learned in my InfoSci degree. Google isn’t nearly as unbiased as people think since it switched to focusing more on AI descriptions and monetizing ads… you could argue Wikipedia is better nowadays cause it will actually link to hard facts from .edu sources and scientific studies, which Google largely will only do if you know how to advanced search, and don’t just type keywords in the search bar like everyone does for convenience. Especially now that fact checkers are frowned upon in business because they aren’t as profitable as simply talking out of both sides of your mouth, and having both truths and untruths searchable, so that all people can confirm their own biases… companies are literally not incentivized to even address this issue, the same way that human Wikipedia fact checkers who literally volunteer for free will always be on their shit for the rest of eternity because the truth MEANS something to them lol
