I will walk this back a bit, depends on the restaurant. If it’s a neighborhood diner that’s historic and classic, my judgment chills out a lot.

Sip & Bite downstairs from me on my block (whoops doxxed myself) does certain things extremely well and the other half of their menu is ass lmao, but since it’s cheap and has that local Baltimore charm and has even been on Guy Fieri’s show etc… I’ve been content to just order different things and eventually use context clues to figure out what I will like and what I shouldn’t ever order lol

a whole ass sit down restaurant trying to look like a professional business though? Stop putting bad meals on menus just to say you have it lol. If it gets sent back more than like once per every 200 people who order it, get rid of it.

 

Learning that my wife would prefer a standard grill than a flat top. Concerning.

 

Olive Garden and Chili's are perfectly fine for what they are. Fuck Applebee's though, never had a good meal there in my life.

When I went one of our tours were cancelled so they gave us a list of suggestions for things to do. At the bottom they emphasized something along the lines of “real locals don’t eat Puffin and neither should you”. Never looked much into it as I wasn’t planning on eating puffin anyway but might be a case where it’s the tourists who are eating it the most. But yeah agree, wild that it’s literally on every menu

Don’t really understand the appeal of a black stone over a normal grill. Feel like you miss out on that grill flavor with a black stone. Would be good for breakfast or some other things but burgers and steaks not so much imo.

 

It’s strictly because that’s what I cooked on for years at a diner

A black stone is cast iron too so that’s totally fine for burgers and steaks imo unless you are specifically after that grilled flavor

 

I just got accused of something pretty fucking lame at work and I'm gonna be big mad about it for the next few hours.

I could definitely see this being the case. I also think locals don’t eat out much in general because the menu costs are absurd. It’s a very interesting place because they rely so heavily on tourism, but they’ve also done a decent job (from what I can tell) in preserving their identity
