This is why I rolled 81 every chance I got (helped that I was always headed to WV or north of Charlotte/Asheville), because they just simply dont care enough once you get past Strasburg to actively patrol on anything but holiday weekends

 

Hilarious the contrast between that and Maryland lol.

VA - 7 cops in 60 miles on the same road when traffic is dead late on a Monday

DC - 372948392 speed / light cameras constantly monitoring you and giving you automatic fines for dumb shit without nuance

Maryland - I swear the SECOND Baltimore / Washington parkway splits off from 695 people are going fuckin 87 mph in a 55 and going 45 in downtown Baltimore to catch all the green lights cause there’s never traffic cops on those roads, and even on 95 / other highways they’re rare lol

this is how you know it’s correct to categorize Maryland as part of the northeast. It’s where northeast driving culture starts, and where northeast-style, walkable, densely packed cities full of brownstones and Victorian row homes start

One last lesson I learned before I sleep all day: i need to route most of my tours through either Atlanta + Jax + Tallahassee + New Orleans or through Ohio and Chicago. That’s where our connections are most solid (aside from the DMV) and where shows are a lot more likely to go well.

If nothing else I’m glad the January and April tours really laid a specific framework down that we can build from, and showed me where my network is strong and where it’s weak/needs some work. And I’m kinda backwardly stoked that I didn’t meet my original deadline for the album release… we are getting our shitty tours outta the way (for different reasons) and learning our lessons now, so that maybe our real album tour does a lot better and sells a lot of vinyl copies of the album - without trying to drive from Georgia to the Midwest in an ice storm and having to repair the car’s wheel/tire area twice lmfao
