I’m personally not a big movie guy

But when I do wanna see a movie I love it

 

It’s almost like there’s more than one way to be neurodivergent and like grouping it all as autism was due to it being stigmatized and very recently they’ve found there are many ways it can manifest. For example some people with autism hate eye contact and socializing during conversation while others (like myself) have been so deeply ingrained to mask their autism that they’re TOO engaging with conversation lol

it’s simply not a thing you can make blanket statements about. Yes, it can make you hyperfixate on movies and TV and be the biggest movie/TV buff, it can also make you not have the attention span for it at all. Both things happen.

 

The autism spectrum is very wide. Someone people fucking love to sit down and watch movies and dissect every detail about them from the acting to the lighting to the shots and everything. Other people, such as myself, prefer to be more active in their free time because it’s difficult to sit still without distraction for extended periods of time.

I have a really bad attention span that’s gotten worse since Covid. I like to see movies at the cinema because I am there just for the movie with no distractions. Watching a movie at home is harder because everything distracts me.

 

Maybe we don’t and just go back to making fun of Pat for not knowing anything about golf?

 

We could also make fun of Sean for liking golf. I’m fine either way.

 

Only golf I care about is mini golf

randall i’m really not trying to argue with you or make you feel bad. i’m fine with dropping it. i understand where you are coming from but i feel like you are failing to understand where i am coming from. i get that attention span issues can be common, almost persistent, with people who are neurodivergent. i get that acutely as i have several relatives who deal with this on a daily basis that i am quite close with. i also know several people who feel the exact same way about movies who can only be described as neurotypical. i promise what you are describing is something that can be a universal feeling. it isn’t people punching down at you, man. but i’m not trying to make this be a thing so i’m fine with dropping it if you are
