Good point - i have found that this varies widely by city for different reasons. For example in Baltimore most venues do have a lil parking lot and street parking isn’t horrible, but parking at a Philly venue fucking SUCKS. Nashville has plentiful parking everywhere but none of it is free and none of it is cheap and they WILL tow your ass. So it just depends. Some cities I don’t have a problem at all, some cities it is a definite hassle

not arguing with you here but sharing my experience - local shows are easier places to bring your spouse or your friends and actually be able to interact with them without some obnoxious 20 something’s and douchey drunk ass 40 something’s and whoever else getting in the way of yall having a chill time together.

Cliquey fanbase vibes suck and that’s definitely even more true of specific genres than others where musicians and their fans are more fixated on how they appear… I’ve also met a lot of cool ass people at local shows though.

This is my biggest downside for sure. But we’ve come a long way technology wise - when I started playing in 2014 every local venue and even some large venues kinda sounded like shit in one way or another lol. Now, at least in a big city area like DC/Baltimore, every 150+ cap venue sounds decent to great depending on who’s doing sound, and there’s even 75 cap venues like The Pocket that sound good as fuck.
