i've been putting off the switch as long as i possibly could until someone from IT sent me an email wondering why i hadn't turned on my new laptop yet lol. not like windows 10 was a powerhouse but 11 feels so sluggish

yeah, I have a pretty beefy gaming PC that I built last year and Windows 11 makes it feel like my previous PC that I built 10 years ago

 

I hate the design choices of windows 11, but my performance has been excellent so far. Just built different/lucky I guess.

I've been on windows 11 for awhile at this point. It is a computer OS and I do not have strong opinions on it. I can do my work.

I don't doubt that Windows 11 might be running slow for ya'll, it's Microsoft after all, but we've been using it at work since early 2024 and have had zero issues lol

Idk just being in the IT space it's funny to me that people (other IT folks I see on certain subreddits, not here) are complaining about having to make this switch. It's been announced for several years that 10 was going EOL this month, and lots of IT departments put off upgrading until this very month!

 

but in all seriousness if you're just using it like a normal person would it works fine, but they've released a lot of bugs that have really fucked up gaming drivers and stuff like that. also updates that aren't properly using your resources. just a poorly put together OS, but Windows typically does the Good -> Bad -> Good -> Bad toggle for their OSes

I also know and fully understand that Microsoft releases buggy OS's, but oftentimes it's the hardware that is bad too. Our standard config is 32gb RAM minimum and we rarely see issues. Most web browsers these days are memory hogs and if you're using 16gb RAM you're likely fucked
