Ending my day with a second shower, a clean apartment, and one of my favorite local hazy IPAs + a bowl of Soul Safari on my roof.

Gotta do it all over again tomorrow. Busy at work again, and had to add an extra practice with the bassist to finish off the last 2 songs on the setlist since they are both long and complicated - he’s got the intro, verses and choruses down and just needs to learn the bridge and outro of each.

Then I’ll have successfully taught him the full 6 song set, and he’ll have all weekend to solo practice before our big BAND rehearsal with the drummer Monday, leading up to our first show as a 3 piece on Friday.

 

So glad I ain’t got SHIT to do Sunday except sleep and watch football. That’s why I just put our extra practice tomorrow so I can have a day to rest and do nothing band or work related. It’s been a LOT the past month - teaching him 6 songs plus 3 full band practices, getting a lot of my vocal recording done, promoting 3 upcoming shows, played 3 tour dates and went to 2 football games and a 2 concerts, and work got suddenly very busy in September all at once.

Dad’s coming up to watch the Jags game and eat wings with me, stoked he bought Sunday Ticket and is paying attention to the Jags / other football again after years of us not being able to really talk about it cause he was working too damn much. He surprised me with how much he knew about this season last week!

I fucking love the Jaguars pass rush this year. Only position group on the team I graded an “A” before the season and they’ve been showing it. Real good example here of how many times Josh Hines-Allen affects the QB within 1.5 seconds even if he doesn’t get the sack and totally blows up the play. You really could credit an INT to JHA because he swatted the ball and made it flutter into our DB’s hands. And probably 3 holding calls too on top of the stuff he put on paper.

 

Been true the entire draft process and the entire preseason and the first 3 weeks of the season so far. He has so many little skills and instincts and like, muscle memory with his footwork that it takes most guys years to learn at that position, and his agility to move in all directions without wasted momentum and recover diagonally and backwards without ever being off balance, is some truly rare stuff on the athletic side. He reads two routes like one concept, and plays both seamlessly in zone, switching from the first read to the next one just like the QB in his progression… and that’s also a thing it takes most good prospects years to learn. He’s gonna be a lockdown CB if we hone that skillset.

make him our full time CB1 and put a chip on Tyson Campbell’s shoulder to play better as a CB2 and continue only using him in spots to get random first downs once in awhile on offense. It is The Way To Use Travis Hunter. The more I watch him the more it’s obvious that he is just gifted on that side of the ball, to the point where even if he ends up just not being that great of a receiver he was still 10,000% worth trading up to pick 2.
