Nadia’s dad has like an iPhone 8 or something, it still has the home button, and he somehow got a brand new iPhone 8 last year when his old one quit working.

 

Praying that when I come back to pick through the best takes of each vocal line in this song + the one I did harmonies for last Tuesday, I’m feeling like my “best” is actually in there and there’s no pesky lines that have 0 good takes. I hate redoing anything. Usually I’m pleasantly surprised that I did better than I thought and my vocal performances were good enough to where I can get a perfect line everywhere if I chop up the best parts of the best takes. But occasionally there’s some parts where I’m just like “ew gross” at every take I did on a couple lines and that’s when it’s frustrating

I’m also hoping I feel stronger about the melodies - I kinda used harmonies to reign in the lead vocal and give the overall melody of the song more repetition behind / beneath the lead vocal when the lead does a vocal run or a melody change. I like my lead vocal performances but, by themselves, they moved around a little too much and I’m hoping that adding context and comfortable repetition (like repeating the low notes from earlier in the song, etc) to specific lines makes the chorus feel more like a chorus and makes it singable for people who aren’t great at karaoke lol.

The exciting news out of my area today is old people are fighting cause the pickleball players kicked the dancers out of the dance class space to turn it into a pickleball court.

I think I'm holding off on getting a new phone until mine (13 Pro) completely dies. There's no new feature that's come out since then that I care about, nor do I care about the cameras getting an upgrade, which is basically the only thing that gets upgraded these days. The only thing that makes me inclined to upgrade is USB-C on the new iPhones since mine still uses the lightning connector, but I hardly ever use a cable to charge my phone anyways, I've got wireless charging on my nightstand and also in my car. Only time I use a cable these days is when I'm traveling

Not sure if I posted this earlier but I had jury duty today and when I showed up it got cancelled so I just took the whole day of lmao. I fixed my Traeger (had to replace the thermocouple) and went to the mall. About to hop in the pool then go to the store then cook some dinner. Good day

I just feel very conflicted about these events that Apple and the like put on every year. I'm gonna get on my high horse again for a minute but the whole yearly upgrading of technology is sooooooooo bad for the environment, probably worse than any other rant I've gone on lol. If anyone's interested check out the documentary The Shopping Conspiracy on Netflix. Mostly goes into fashion but touches on technology as well

 

My wife has told me all of our relationship how badly she wants to get jury duty and get to serve on a jury but how she's never actually gotten a summons

Last month she finally got a summons and she's already fighting to get out of it lmao

idk how they do it in other states, but in PA when you get called, they send a "preliminary" survey of like 100 questions to even see if youre "qualified"

I basically just answered all the questions in a negative light against the police/justice system and they did not pick me lol

 

I kinda think there's something lame in general about events like that and how eager people are to be advertised to. I'm a hypocrite in that regard because it's the same thing in an industry like gaming, they've taken things like the Nintendo Direct and Game Awards stuff and it's basically "hey tune in to watch a bunch of ads for shit to consume" and it all happens on a loop and it's like, do we really need more of this? Kinda a different soapbox than yours but yeah it's been on my mind
