I see Randall has explained the joke but here is some extra context.

In 2003 Metallica released their 8th studio album St Anger. Before its release the band had heralded it to be a return to their classic thrash sound after the softer departure on the previous 2 albums Load and reloaded, respectively. St Anger while heavier as promised did not have a classic thrash sound and fans focused on Lars the drummers sound in particular. Lars is hitting a very abrasive high pitched metallic sounding with a prominent ring emphasised with a heavy dose of reverb much more reminiscent of a nu-metal sound.

It’s just such a wussy snare tone for the type of music lol

Deftones made the ultra high pitch snare work but it’s rare that I like it
