It’s always really funny when Pat gets mad about people not respecting Oasis because all I know is Wonderwall and that’s what I picture him fighting so hard for

 

i like radiohead im being hyperbolic and a brat but the gap in quality between the two isn't as big as "radiohead are the most talented band alive" dorks would have you believe

oasis can't write "everything in its right place" but radiohead can't write "don't look back in anger" either and i know which i'd rather listen to

I was indifferent about the Jags until I encountered certain posters telling me relentlessly how awesome they/jacksonville really are.

Similar thing for a band that all I knew about before hand is “oh they’re brothers. But they hate each other.”

pat is not insufferable about oasis the way elf and randy are about the jags lol

 

I remain happy for Pat he got to see his favorite band. Genuinely.

 

I obviously grew up with both bands and enjoy their music when I hear it, but outside of a couple of Radiohead tracks, I never really seek out their music to listen to on my own. Great bands though.

 

the analogy falls apart though because the jags and the city have never actually been cool or good. oasis was widely regarded for a full decade, broke up and largely disappeared from public conscience, had a resurgence in popularity the last half decade, and then reunited with the biggest tour of the year. they have always been acclaimed for their music and they have only ever been extremely popular while being an active band

it’s like saying “i’m tired of being told how good xyz player is” and then they retire and become an awesome coach a decade later
