wells has a stock purchase plan and i just have it set up to buy me a certain amount of shares per pay period and i don’t touch it, treating it like a second 401k basically

 

basically you get to buy potential shares in the company at an assumed lower cost for when they go public OR sometimes those shares will be used in M&A situations as a means to payout to the workforce. latter happened when I started at my last company. got a bunch of RSUs when hired and a Private Equity firm acquired us shortly after and they bought 25% of my shares that hadn't even vested yet for me to buy. IT'S ALL MADE UP!

 

wife works for Cisco and this year is the first time we're taking advantage. Pretty solid deal tbh if you are able to dedicate a chunk of your check towards it.
