I had chili earlier this week too. I'm cancelling this all out with a spicy chicken egg and cheese biscuit from chick fil a for breakfast.
Grimace thinking I just wanted people to pick Maye when really Pat picking Caleb is so much more fun haha
he started off bad sure but idk how you can see what he's done this season and at least have it not be a conversation
Caleb would be my #2, or at least in contention for #2 with Stroud (but I lean Caleb based on potential)
i think stroud's rookie year was better than anything we've seen from caleb but given the last two years i think i'd have several ahead of stroud
I have been very much a Caleb doubter but he’s been playing a lot better lately and every mic’d up clip I see he’s seemed more mature than I anticipated. I also want the people who freaked out about his nails mad.
Stroud's rookie season while great feels close to his ceiling as a player. Which like, if that's your ceiling that's pretty damn good. Caleb's ceiling is INSANE though and when you think "I'm building a team around this guy" yeah give me Caleb easily I get having Daniels above Stroud as well but the injuries do scare me
I think I have biases in play in regards to Stroud for sure but based on a lot of the lucky breaks he got that rookie season, and how much his play is mirroring his Ohio State play lately...I think he's heavily benefitted from a lot of things and I don't see him taking a big stride forward outside of just having a good situation and I think that'll look a lot like the rookie season or maybe a 1-tier difference
i mean, coming from a fan of a team whos fans have been (mostly justifiably) bitching about OL since the dark days, a good QB can overcome OL deficiencies to an extent. if stroud 'needs' a better OL to unlock his next level, i don't think he's very good.
This thought has been rattling around my brain a lot in regards to both Stroud and Lawrence. They both have awful OL situations, but OL play in the NFL is only getting worse in a lot of places, and at a certain point you just have to overcome that. While it sucks and isn't necessarily the QB's fault (sometimes it is) it's just what you have to be able to do to play at this level 90% of the time
Although in regards to the Texans and Bengals, both teams HAVE been actively sabotaging their lines so I get the complaint in that regard Giants and Jaguars have at least tried to improve theirs even if they've missed
