A Tesla self driving forklift carrying a pallet of slat wall crashes into a hospital and explodes, killing exactly 1 person because no one else could afford to go there
I’m getting ready for Coachella in 4 months and this is my who I want to see on Friday and it’s absolutely not fair so many good acts
I think AI is really useful sometimes. I think the enthusiasm behind it has nothing to do with how useful or good it is, but very much with how it can eliminate jobs. I think it’s cooking our planet It really makes me sad we’re moving past expertise being a quality. “Now anyone can be a VFX engineer!” A) anyone could beforehand, you just had to work B) Why is that good? When did it become a good thing to flood the world with amateurish nonsense.
My cousin won't stop posting about this new children's book she has written. And when I look at it, it's all fucking AI. She is releasing an AI made children's book.
a lot of the people I know are being ruined by AI bullshit and those gym bros who are leading dudes into right wing politics and I HATE IT
I love that the defenders of AI, including people on this site, are like it’s killing our planet, eliminating jobs and making people dumber but it makes my job a little easier so who’s to say if it’s bad or not. This wasn’t directed at Dave just some prominent posters in the politics thread
It’s the wooooooooorst. It 100% makes my job easier and if it was banished to the shadow realm I’d be pumped.
I’m so mad I never found resale tickets for Built to Spill at Ottobar tonight >:( it sold out immediately when tickets became available and no updates since. But Ottobar has karaoke night in their upstairs room. I might be able to go up there first and then sneak in to Built to Spill downstairs when the dude up front is distracted checking IDs for a line of people. Imma bring a long sweater so it’s not easy to see I’m not wearing a bracelet
I think it's possible Elon Musk is dead and we've been interacting with one of his most passionate creations (just another Nazi)
this is amazing because it proves that when there’s oversight involved companies do not trust AI to be accurate, but without that oversight they’re happy to just lazily push through whatever flawed and incomplete bullshit AI spits out lol
Apparently Conway the Machine put out an album last Friday and as it turns out it is an immediate favorite of mine
my general take is AI could be useful in a society that values being responsible with science / the scientific method and data training / data cleansing over maximizing profit. But since our society is organized the opposite way, with the latter being heavily and irresponsibly prioritized to the point of rushing R&D, half assing the science, and cutting costs and deregulating rather than retaining the due process of oversight / keeping tech workers heavily involved in AI’s efficacy? This exaggerates all the downsides of AI to the point that more ethical and responsible users can’t even make a difference, compared to the massive wave of oligarchs rushing something to market before they remotely understand the responsibility involved.
Like the AI industry is a huge Jurassic Park esque paradigm, where all the scientists who understand the repercussions are screaming that we shouldn’t be going this far and the technology isn’t ready, but people with money who don’t fully understand the science and the repercussions are ignoring them, assuming the metaphorical glass will never break, and AI will correct itself to be fool proof
