I found it. I can definitely hear that 90s indie rock influence in the first one hell yeah. I like the distortion in there a lot. It does remind me of J Mascis but it also reminds me of High Vis
The second song you sent me reminds me of Ash and The Anniversary. It’s so fucking 90s I love the guitar production choices haha
Ash - 1977 is low key one of my favorite forgotten albums of the punk/indie scene. The song “Lose Control” is on the original Gran Turismo soundtrack and one day I listened to the whole record and I honestly love it.
Ohhh I could totally hear that. That’s really different context but I get that too now that you said it
@phaynes12 im hearing the third song in two different ways. One version is exactly like it is, with kinda like shouted vocals that match the rhythm of the guitar riff The other thing my producer brain is doing is replacing the high gain guitars with a Fender Twin / tweed tone + washy plate reverb - I think it would sound dope in a surf rock context if you wanted an outside perspective on like “how could I change this up and add a song with a different vibe”
There is basically an entire different version of the album with kind of shoegazey for lack of a better word production and it felt like putting on another band’s culture as a costume just gonna keep it 90s indie alt rocky and be true to myself
Yeah, man, they are cool ideas! Can’t wait to hear what the vocals sound like, you can honestly go in a lot of different directions that would work as far as vocal style. and I feel like there’s already pretty strong melodies implied by the guitar riffs
