If the intention were to immediately start Rivers they'd straight up sign him, not go the PS route. He's there to help elevate the guys that are going to have to be able to suit up and to be an emergency option in case those guys also can't play

 

maybe he's just on the practice squad because they haven't figured out who they want to release on the 53

 

I must be missing something. I thought they hired him to eventually be the starting QB since they have no one left.

 

I think that's just people speculating and wishcasting it

 

This is possible too but I can't imagine that's the case when they have the ability to move their injuries around as needed, I feel like that wouldn't take long and they'd just do it first

 

The guy isn’t in playing shape. Maybe keep him in the practice squad for a week while he works his way back.

He was honestly pretty solid his last season from what I remember. Lost a close game to Buffalo in the wild card round of the playoffs. Supposedly Frank Reich convinced the colts to go after Carson wentz so they decided not to re-sign Rivers so he decided to retire

 

This may be the reason Rivers is on the PS.

I don't know, they haven't declared one and they have a roster spot for one. Maybe they're working on another move too. Maybe they are starting him. Who knows? All that's been communicated is that he is signed to the practice squad and people are filling in any other blanks with what they think.

Yeah I looked up his stats and was surprised he threw for over 4k yards. My very vague memory was that he looked old at the end but by all means 5 years is forever ago so I def couldn’t remember haha. I cannot imagine 5 years out of the sport in your mid 40’s will lead to much success but it’ll certainly be hilarious to watch

My guess is if Leonard can play he will start. If not then they’ll go with Rivers

 

a ton of wildcat to JT seems likely.

it's more likely Rivers starts next week
