WHEW finished my new lyrics just in time to hit the studio. Let’s fuckin go. I didn’t worry too much about being super metaphorical and literary - I just made a sociopolitical point about how we don’t really have a say in what this country’s most wealthy and powerful / this country’s politicians are gonna do with imperialism as the empire starts to decline, and our only hope is to get united and call the government’s bluff collectively instead of letting them keep distracting / dividing us with culture wars and binary politics This album needed something like that - I am way too angry about what’s going on to not make a statement about it in my art. I wanna try to start on the right foot, using that platform for galvanizing people - it’ll be more effective and come across more genuine if I started doing that before I even had an audience. Plus the album’s called Chasm which hints at themes of massive shifts / splits in the earth being a metaphor for divisiveness and aggressive reform, so to make an album called Chasm but it’s entirely personal lyrics makes no sense.
Could barely beat my last 2 opponents who aren't even playing anymore so I'm cool with not making the playoffs.
