Guitar work isn’t easy to compare either cause I’ve been playing for 23 years and pretty much have developed my own style at this point, but you can tell I’m influenced by who I’m influenced by.

 

My soloing style is def mascis influenced but I’d say my riffing/chord play is much more marr influenced

 

You can hear and judge for yourself in the next 2-14 years when the album comes out

 

I really kinda do my own thing.

Approximately half of it you can def tell I was an Ap.net / tony hawks pro skater kid who had the natural progression from 2000s scene music to older indie-alternative / Midwest emo / punk and post-punk music that influenced it

but the other half of it is really just me doin my own thing and sounds nothing like any of that at all lol. Including my vocals.

what sucks about the BN situation is they were very obvious about it Jesse is literally writing his guilt about preying on young / drunk women into his lyrics - but we were all kids in an era that normalized that shit in art, so we didn’t understand

 

Scary to think about the negative influence they’ve had and how that’s led to a lot of people embracing anti wokeism or whatever

I meant to give an update on the guitar stuff. Olivia had us go by Guitar Center last week so of course I'm looking at the $1k+ stuff and she basically said that if I'm serious about it, get a cheaper guitar to start and take lessons. I'm actually considering it because my ass would spend the money on a good guitar and find something else to do and it would collect dust. I never took lessons previously and just learned off of guitar tabs for the songs I really liked, but with us starting a family next year I really want to start playing again so I can play for them.

 

Probably sounds lame but I have a habit of picking up hobbies and not sticking with them lmao
