“Even on chat, you exude a calm, collected vibe - and on that thread, you're one of the few. Nice job.”

A much different vibe then “you suck, who cares that your dad died, it shouldn’t make you suck!”

They should handshake deal with the Bengals to get them to release Flacco

I think we saved our neighbors house from having some disastrous flooding issues last night. I was taking the dogs out at like 11pm and I heard what sounded like gushing water (and in hindsight, I think I might have heard it earlier that evening when I took the dogs out a few hours earlier but I wasn't really sure what the sound was, so who knows how long it had been going on). I went around the side of our house to where our sprinkler back flow is thinking it might have been ours, but once I got closer it sounded like it was coming from the next-door neighbors. I looked over the fence and sure enough, their sprinkler back flow must have froze and the pipe burst and it was gushing water, and the dumb fucking homebuilder decided to put their back flow literally right next to their basement window well (ours is like a good 15-20ft from a window well) and I could see it filling up. Right above the back flow they have a side window, and we could see someone sitting on their couch in the living room, so Jocelyn and I went over and rang the doorbell several times but he wasn't getting up, he's an older guy probably in his late 70's that we've never met, he just moved in a few months ago, anyways I started banging on the door and we could see from that side window he was finally getting up to answer the door. He opened it and we told him about the water and he just goes "oh, so that's probably why the sink barely has any water pressure" lol. Asked him if he needed any help with anything and he said he'd take care of it. Hopefully it's not too bad

good guy Max. had something similar with some pool equipment after we moved in and a dude banged on our door at like 6am while he was walking his dog because we had a line pop off the motor for the cleaner that was just spraying water everywhere and it's up against our house lol.

That's great that someone stopped to let you know lol I just kept thinking of how upset I'd be if a neighbor noticed that and didn't bother trying to get our attention. I was also thinking what if the dude never answered the door or wasn't home/awake, idk what else we could do since we've never met the guy before. Not sure if that's something we could call in to the non-emergency police line or if they can/would even do anything

my landlord would take care of that for me

That's another thing, I'm 99% sure that guy is a renter. We've lived here for 6 years now and like 3-4 different people have lived at that house now and it hasn't been sold since it was built. Whoever the landlord is fucked up royally by not making sure the sprinklers were blown out and the back flow spigot was off at this point. That's winterizing 101

man I had a week off and I legit want/need another month. I've had general dislike of my jobs in the past but I legit just don't like my job right now.

What do you mean by sprinklers being “blown out”
I’m tryna learn from this lol

  19. @Randall Mentzos You need to remove water from the water lines for the winter or they’ll freeze and explode

I do understand that part - that’s the backflow right? When he says sprinklers need to be “blown out” does that mean to have them raised all winter or…?

  24. you push air through the lines to remove all the water. That’s blowing out the system.
