Great song for sure. I play a cover of this where I play both fiddle harmonies simultaneously on my guitar between the verses

Similarly I can also cover Sufjan Stevens’ “Jacksonville” that way where I’m doing both string harmonies in the verse between each line, and then add the trumpet harmonies on top of the chords in the chorus

feels absolutely like a hit or miss experience, but the time i saw them a few years back they were incredible. it looks like the shows that have been happening since he took a break in late 2024 have been really really good so, maybe he got a bit healthier? i dont wanna speculate any further than that, ill let the weirdos in the BE thread (who love to do that) do that.

 

Haven’t seen Bright Eyes live so idk. I’d have loved to see them during the Cassadaga era. Their band production was top tier at that point, would’ve been very nicely detailed to hear Mike Mogis work live

 

He wasn't very good at Austin City Limits either but yeah I hear varying opinions so might just be inconsistent

I also wasn't into Bright Eyes then and like it now so that might be it really lmao

 

Cassadaga is my top BE album. perfect from start to finish.

Cassadaga was the last BE album I liked. Middleman is an underrated song.

 

i really liked "People's Key" but i know that's mostly a minority opinion and that's fine. Loved "Down in the Weeds" but am very meh on the newest one. the good songs are great but there's only like, 3 or 4 of them.

 

I don’t think I even listened to the new one. Oops.
