I'm sorry, Murph, but we cannot take the risk of falling for the joke. No one believes you

Both will simply lead to more injuries

the point of sudden death overtime is to not extend the game too much, because injury risk is much higher late in the game when your muscles are fatigued and dehydrated, and they can’t catch your weight as well when you land awkwardly

I get that kickoff returns are “exciting plays” but they are a play where everyone is sprinting in opposite directions and the risk of brain trauma related collision injuries is extremely high as a result, I don’t think it’s a great idea to encourage a kickoff return every time

I disagree, when the new kickoff was first established the xfl data showed injuries were down because guys weren't getting 50 yards of running before making contact with a returner. not going to make a huge difference

as far as extra football yeah sure logically that can lead to more injuries but i saw a stat recently that the overall number of plays was down quite a bit as a whole this past season, allegedly due to the emphasis on the run game

I just need to get more habitual about simply acknowledging when another person makes a good point instead of still looking for things I can nitpick about why I disagree lol

yeah I mean i'm not an expert i'm just basing it off of a few things i've seen

we know player safety isn't the real highest priority for the league so always take it with a grain of salt

the number of plays one was pretty surprising though

I don't really care much about either rule. The overtime thing bugs me because there's never going to be a solution that doesn't result in one fanbase whining so like...whatever. I was fine killing sudden death because kickers are stupid these days, but the rest is just meh to me.

I think the thing that gets me irritated about the overtime rule more than anything else, is that I kinda just hate fan culture of the NFL. The instant replay and disecting every blade of grass, and the refs are out to get us and this wasn't faiiiiiir. All of it is just annoying to me.

I say this knowing I'm a fan of a team who took "they're out to get us" to the Supreme Court basically lol

My number one request for a rule change in the NFL, and really in all sports, is that replays must be limited to X number of watches, timed to 30 seconds, and played at full speed the whole time. I'm done checking to see if someone was offsides a minute before the goal in hockey, or if a big toe touched the chalk.

I can tell you right now it's gonna be a bout time of possession.

How is it fair if the team that got the ball first goes into chew clock mode and they got it more than us!
