With that said, I just received a text from someone who I was supposed to go out with on Friday, did not respond to my text that day and thus bailed on me, and JUST NOW reached out to say “Hey there :) Just started my new job today. How’ve you been?”

Do I even bother to respond?

I have no idea how good Dustin is but I’m erring on the side of caution cause his personal opinion of himself is way lower than reality on just about everything. Guy could be wearing the fly-est clothes in the world and still wishing he had better fashion sense lol. I bet he’s fuckin awesome at guitar and just passes himself off as “okay” lol

I bet we’re just all good lol. Like I’m sure there are things (for example) that Pat has gotten good at cause he plays heavy ass music that I never got good at. It ain’t a competition, it’s personal expression, artists all try to be the best they can be at the specific thing they want to express. We’re all in our 30s and have been playing forever, I don’t doubt anyone’s ability who’s been playing and dedicating themselves to it for that long tbh

one of these days im gonna turn the riffletter into a coffee table book. enough people have told me they want me to do that where I think it would be "worth it" for me to put in the book and i'd at least break even. i just don't know shit about how to do layout/art/publishing etc.

almost certainly. he's really great at playing solos live but through doing the riffs newsletter I was kind of shocked, not by just how few riffs he has that isn't surprising, but how little guitar is actually on those records. not going to pretend I'm a prince scholar but I also wasn't just cherry-picking songs either. seems like a guy who very obviously could absolutely blow most other guitarists in the room away and did so live (the while my guitar gently weeps video comes to mind) but it just isn't there really on the records.

    edit: talking prince here obviously
