How do you get furniture onto your own island also? Just load a heavy couch onto a boat and hope it doesn’t bounce off the boat and into the water when you hit wake? And then take 50 more trips by boat back across to get your other stuff? Is it impossible to do this without a yacht?

What I’m getting at is, to do this with any level of practicality, requires magnitudes more money than the otherwise reasonable $2.7million cost of buying an island with a huge house already on it lol

i’m only gonna rank guitarists i listen to. in 2020 i think i was trying to be a bit performative even though no one saw it and included people like albert collins who, while objectively great, is not someone i listen to or whose playing i care about

 

This is why I don’t rank haha. And also there’s some stuff that people demand that you “give credit” that just isn’t contextually as impressive now as it was then. Chuck Berry was a very influential blues guitarist but to me, listening in 2025… his guitar licks were repetitive af and not very rhythmically interesting just a lot of sixteenth notes. Sue me lol Berry is not on my top 100 even if it was spanking new talent at the time.

 

BB King still stands up to the hype though

It is also hard to rank people like Nick Drake, who showed a lot of guitar skill & a unique approach to writing licks in very limited material but we didn’t get to see the full range of what he was capable of. He had one of the greatest folk ALBUMS of all time but is he one of the greatest folk guitarists of all time? Hard to argue that up against others who have like 20 albums worth of different approaches to fingerpicking lol

One cool thing about Jacksonville: it not only has Kona Skatepark, a legendary skatepark that a lot of pro skaters would acknowledge as crucial to skate history, but also has a new one under a bridge near downtown that several of my friends just skated with Bam Margera at
