I’ve redownloaded Instagram but set myself a one hour limit and I haven’t hit it yet and unfollowed almost all non-personal connections

 

I’m cool with people using whatever (my opinion matters so much) but it annoys me when people act like trying to cultivate alternatives is bad

None of that is going on in here rn of course, just speaking generally

 

My thing is just the algorithmic side of Twitter is useless at this point, at least on bluesky (for now) it’s just what I want to see. I’m not getting random viral stuff thrown at me unless it’s by someone I already follow

 

Yeah from a user experience standpoint I like Bluesky much more at the moment

I just get people wanting the larger user base and the more consistent embed compatibility or even just to not switch

But I personally am happy with Bluesky instead

 

The majority of the time my algorithm actually gives me stuff I want to look at but I think enough people I follow engaged with it that it started popping up for me.

 

At the end of the day I still use social media too much

 

I only have instagram and I endlessly scroll Reddit. I feel like the Reddit algorithm used to be decent and only showed me the subreddits I was subscribed to but now I get anything even tangentially related. I’m subscribed to the accounting subreddit (lol) but I’ve been getting a lot of posts from inflation or personal finance etc.

 

I’m guilty of that for sure. Just like my comments post, I know nothing good can come from it but I still look sometimes.

I’m glad I never liked Facebook(MySpace for life!!) I only have it for bday reminders and so my biological mom can tell me she loves me once a month. Haha

 

My Facebook got stolen from me by someone who lives near McAllen

Since then I put 2FA on everything

 

why does she say it just once a month flood

 

Idk I guess to make herself feel like a good mom even though she left me and my dad when I was two.

Instagram has sucked for a long time now. Idk why I still bother with it lol. It is the only social media I still use tho and I’ve cut down my usage by a lot

 

I did use Reddit quite a bit when I was in school cause my schools subreddit was goated for help with courses and I naturally ventured into other subs, but since graduating I barely use it anymore

 

Barely on social media anymore. I poke by Facebook and bluesky a few times a day, but don’t spend much time on either like sometimes I would on Twitter when I’d just mindlessly keep scrolling

 

Speaking of poking, remember that function on Facebook? wtf was that lol

Was MySpace peak social media? Having the feature to display your top friends sure was toxic, but I’m inclined to believe it was otherwise
