teams wanna win super bowls. obviously fans want sustained success, but this regime in place probably isnt thinking too far down the road because they all know if it doesnt produce a lombardi in a few years everyones gone anyway. they were talking about this on WFAN today as i was hate-listening to the afternoon show, how the giants are in arguably the WORST situation you can be in as a fan, because you have a coach and GM not thinking rationally at all, theyre just thinking about 2025. they dont care about 2027 or 2028 or beyond bc they probably wont be around for it.

 

part of me doesnt blame the vikings for wanting it. detroit looks like theyre gonna be the powerhouse in that division for the next few years, the packers despite what resident posters here from Indianapolis think are no slouches in that division, and god forbid our clowning on the bears blows up in our faces. the vikings need to put themselves in a spot quickly and i think they really feel like they could be that close. if they win a SB none of this conversation matters at all.

 

honestly not to pile on but I think you're right I think being a Giants fan in 2025 is the worst team to be a fan of in the NFL

A podcast I listened to brought all this up recently in regards to why we don’t see so many conditional/deep future trades in the nfl draft like in the nba. There aren’t any rules prohibiting it, there’s just less job security to see a rebuild through

 

Feel like the Steelers or tomlin specifically should get weird with it since it’s essentially a lifetime job. But they’re cowards.

 

I feel like if I was a new coach, let's just say Liam Coen to pick a name.

I'd immediately call up teams and be like "I'll give you a 2032 and 2034 1st round pick for Malik Nabers" or some shit. Like, fuck it that's so far away why not. That's how I operate in Madden at least lol
