the last time I saw Circa was in 2014 with Pianos Become The Teeth here in Indy which was incredible

I interviewed Anthony for this site a few years back when the amulet came out and he's always been the nicest dude

 

I miss O’Brother. What ever happened to that band? They put out You & I at the start of the pandemic and predictably went silent, but then they did that livestream of Garden Window for the 10-year anniversary, played a show or two in Georgia a couple years ago, and nothing since then

O Brother is a band i never got into but feel like they were perpetually on tour with manchester orchestra and thrice lol

Anton is one of the nicest people I know too - I just think they're done

 

yeah that's right - I'll probably watch Hawthorne Heights set too because JT is a good friend

 

I saw Anthony open for Thursday on the full collapse tour a few years ago and he just played solo and it was very very bad. I don’t think I ever saw Circa live.

 

Always one of the most genuine, nice interactions I’ve had with any band member. Met him a few times and he was always great.

 

I went to a show with my friends on this tour too and we all felt the same. Was easily his worst set I’ve ever seen. Idk what it was, but the setlist and the vibe was definitely off

 

The Michigan show of that tour got canceled because Anthony had to be airlifted to a hospital

we did get a TA/B&C/O Brother side show in a small venue and Jordan from La Dispute did the TA songs he was on so that was cool

 

O'Brother was good live, I didn't really listen to them but their shows were good

So was HRVRD if anyone remembers them

 

the most random but actually really fun and cool band member interaction I ever had was one fall day in 2009 JT from Hawthorne Heights messaged me and wanted to know if I wanted to go to a Bengals game with him. It was super fun. lol

 

Bengals fans are so desperate

 

Can you imagine wanting to go to a sporting event and being like "Drew Beringer, I've seen his posts, that's the guy I wanna bring"

yeah I was bummed cause I liked the solo record he put out around then and I honestly couldn’t even tell what songs he was playing.

 

I liked Drew more when he was a Bulls fan

 

I remember just thanking him for everything and explaining to him and bit of how impactful the music he’s been a part of over the years has had an impact on me as a listener and musician, and how his life story has impacted me as a person. Just said how grateful I was to be alive in that moment in time and share the experience with him.

Then he put his hand on my shoulder, looked me in the eyes, and goes “Do you have any fucking idea how happy it makes me feel to be a part of your life like that?” It was a surreal moment. Just super fucking cool and I never would have had that opportunity if a friend I had made through their discord didn’t surprise me with a ticket for his Boom Done record release show at a museum in Doylestown.

 

lol. I am absolutely not like that in real life.

but It was fun - he invited to his place and I met his family who were incredibly sweet - that Silence in black and white money was good for him haha

say whatever about Hawthorne heights music (some of it is not good!) JT Woodruff is one of the most genuinely, realistic, and nicest musicians I've ever interacted with from this scene

hey man watching and rooting for the bulls was one of the last great things I got to with my grandmother before she passed! every Jordan sneaker and jersey I ever got as a kid/teen was from her haha
