When I rewatched it a few months back, I was absolutely blown away at how much of that movie's great shit is the first 30-40mins. It holds up the entire way through, but, the farting in her sleep story, him destroying him with the chess monologue, the "how about them apples" and "wicked smart", etc are all in the first act.

That’s mostly true but “It’s not your fault” and Affleck’s main bit are act 3 and both rule/are crucial

 

Oh, no doubt, like I said, it holds up the entire way. I just usually remember the build to and climax of movies I havent watched in like 10 years...and sooo much of that that I remembered was the first 30mins.

I also love every story of that Affleck 10s piece, because he basically crushed it in one take, everyone knew it, but he wanted to do a few more takes cause he had written and rewritten and rehearsed it so much he didnt want it to be over.
