I’m too late to the thread to share the official statement that Andrew McMahon is one of the greatest songwriters to come out of this genre/scene in the 25 years I’ve been paying attention, but facts are facts and it needs to be said.

he belongs in the pantheon right up there with Ben Gibbard and Conor and probably one or two choices I am just not thinking of right now.

def gonna be one of those spots I gotta pick my song choices carefully based on the crowd there and other performers. This ain’t a hip bar in the city I can’t expect to just be able to pull out some punk shit and make waves. Gotta lure people in to being open to that at my shows later with some more accessible stuff on first impression
