my job has flexibility and since my team is all east coast dorks, i can slip out early if need be without a problem.

but also my place isnt draconian and if we have an appointment or something, we can just go and not have to make up the time.

For what it's worth, though....I am on board with Randall's basic premise of seeing a movie during the week rather than opening weekend or whatever. I hate crowds and have enough PTO that the last couple movies I've seen were in the middle of the day on like a Wednesday

 

Me too for sure I just don't think that's exclusive to assigned seating vs not

 

I’m not saying change jobs I just thought a big chunk of office jobs were like that lol

 

It is so bananas how often you have to be reminded that other people have busy schedules lol

 

i pretty exclusively see movies on slower weeknights, but i still book my seat ahead of time!!!!!

 

I usually go on Sundays

 

I assure you they are not hahaha

 

Mine probably is honestly but a large majority are not

I tend to go Friday after work. usually feel more outgoing then.

 

One of the minor and totally not on the same scale of death, but still kinda a bummer thing about dad getting sick, is we basically lost leaving the kids with grandma and grandpa. Mom def can’t handle 2 on 1 with her back.

 

New plan....counting on youtube is out. I'm going to open a theater without recliners and no assigned seating. We'll only show movies from 9-5 Monday-Thursday

 

Please keep in mind I was talking about once in awhile not like “oh this is my weekly fuck off work and go see a movie day” lol

 

Genuinely so excited for them to hit see a movie age

 

More like “eh I have extra PTO and I’m really burned out I’m seeing a movie this Friday at 2PM”

 

This to me is not at all the same thing as taking a long lunch to see a movie on a Tuesday

 

I think that kind of self care / day off is valuable and sometimes I need that more than I need an actual vacation day cause vacation is still stressful planning and very rarely do I vacation just to relax, it’s going out and seeing shit

 

It'd also in most cases (like 99.9999%) require 2 week advance notice to get it approved if it's gonna take up that much of a day

 

I just do whatever whenever. Kirby had a field day at school from 9-11 and I just went.

Stuff I’m really excited for like the new mission impossible I will see opening weekend (seeing it Thursday) other stuff I’ll wait until the following week and go on a Monday or Tuesday. But I enjoy the cinema so I go basically weekly.

 

That I can't speak on. With the exception of August and January, I can give like 24 hours notice if I want a day off (technically it's supposed to be 48 hours, but my boss doesn't care). And even in August/January, if it's an appointment, I could still do it, he just wouldn't be thrilled
