Obviously if I know I'm going to the movies, I'll just get the tickets on my phone.

I realize I sound like an old man, but before we had kids, if my wife and I were out and we randomly decided to see a movie, we would just go to the theater and buy them at the booth, we wouldn't use our phones, we're right there

Why do people care this much about assigned seating at the movies

just be smart and go see movies when no one else is. Whole theatre is your oyster.

I will not let capitalism make me feel FOMO for not jam packing myself into a crowded theatre the day something comes out, i already do that kinda shit for sports and that’s enough. I’m fine seeing a movie weeks later on a weekday or Sunday night when it’s chill

Cause I like knowing where my seat is and like to see a movie when I want and not have to take a day off to see it during the week 3 weeks after it’s released.

 

maybe the movie has limited showings. maybe you can only do one time. cmon

 

Even if I worked normal schedule I’d like take a half day or a long lunch to see a movie when it was slow at work and that’d be the way I treat myself to one lol

 

It's so easy to have assigned seating at a theatre that it should frankly be expected

 

assigned seats are too good. i don't need to rush or be early. i can take my damn time getting to the theater and get my popcorn.

I only have so many PTO days I’m not using them to see a movie when I can simply see it at night with an assigned seat. I also get 30 minutes for lunch not 3 hours.

 

a long lunch? youre gonna take a 2 and a half hour lunch break? and expect to still have the job? lol

I just don’t like watching a movie in a room with a lot of other people, the empty theatre vibe is my vibe, if I have to get an assigned seat to even have a good seat then Im much less likely to wanna go lol

i used to do early showings even with assigned seating. now i go whenever i get the urge.

 

You can get assigned seats at a quiet theatre too

 

Office workers don’t take half days / long lunches to do self care or errands sometimes? That’s news to me lol I hear about it a lot and that’s the one thing I’m jealous about

 

We buy tickets same day usually and get seats that match exactly where we wanna be

 

i dont take half days to go to the movies when i can do that after work bc i know i have an assigned seat lol

 

I can take an extended lunch to like go to the doctors but have to make up that time throughout the week. I would not do that just to see a film that I could easily see after work.

 

I often take long lunches for appointments or whatever or I might take a little extra time if I have an errand, but I'd never try it for a movie. That's too far even for me and I could probably get away with it if I really wanted to

 

I know some jobs be strict about that shit but some jobs seemingly aren’t and will let you choose your own hours if you’re salary provided you do a full time amount of work every week and make it to all your meetings? Like my mom works 45ish hours a week for the government but she works 10-11 hour days sometimes so she can have leeway to move her schedule around.
