I live in Fresno

 

My wife’s dad was trying to replace kitchen handles on the cabinets and drawers up at their summer camp. Well, 2-3 of the handles were stuck and the screws were stripped.

ALL last week he was asking my wife’s sister’s husband what to do, getting tools from him, etc. because he’s a mason and not me, the least handy person ever.

WELL I kept trying to say I know how to do it and to use pliers. And nobody listened. And then finally today he in the end got the screw out using my method!!!

Who needs a handy man when you have me!

 

Listening to the whole thing now. Changes still good and rest of album definitely solid. Gives me a lil’ Oso Oso vibe

 

Listening to this Big Picture episode about the Pavement movie thing and I’m now annoyed I can’t see it in a theater near me

I just did before commenting to see if I had heard them before since I wasn’t sure and what I heard isn’t really my thing.

My “90s indie rock legends hot take” is that Dinosaur Jr is mid and J Mascis’ guitar playing isn’t impressive or inventive enough to make up for me not liking his boring croaky vocals or songwriting that much. I think they’re mad overrated.

Pavement is good at times, sometimes it starts to feel real samey when you’ve been listening to it for while but the baseline Pavement song is good and catchy and endearing. I like the kinda garage rock whiney vocals he does & think they have a lot of genuine character, but I can also understand people who don’t listen to that kinda shit thinking Malkmus sounds amateur

if I’m recommending people an indie rock stalwart band from the 90s though it’s Built to Spill all day. Pavement & Dino Jr are in the same umbrella / get played on the same streaming playlists but simply aren’t nearly as good in my eyes. I get so tired of Dino Jr songs coming up on shuffle I’m like “man just cause they have the AESTHETIC of 90s indie and were from the era doesn’t mean I automatically like this shit” lol. If I hear one more solo that just uses the notes do re mi fa sol on a major scale, from a guy who has guitars named after him and that magazines constantly rank as one of the best guitarists of all time, imma die lol

Yo La Tengo would be a rec of mine too but only certain albums & songs. My issue with them is they really could’ve trimmed a lot of the “fat” off their albums over the years lol every album is like 18 songs and only 9-10 of them are really good. I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One is the one album of theirs I frequently play start to finish (but even then I have to be in the mood for Spec Bebop, an 11 minute noise jam lol)
