man, got 10 hours of sleep for the first time in years last night. good thing i wfh or i'd be in trouble lol

No can do. Gotta print flyers today and go street busk in Hampden before my show. Gotta also make final FINAL notes on the mix of our single so Garrett can upload the file tonight

enjoyed the first one but this one might be too stupid

 

Also very proud of our success spreading the word. We went into a like, 7 show tour with 2,850 instagram followers and came home with 3,030. That shit is not easy to do:

1) it’s not like every single person who saw you enjoyed it a lot
2) even if they enjoyed your set, they might not go out of their way to keep up with you
3) even if they *would* go out of their way to keep up with you, most of them didn’t clearly hear you say your instagram tag into the microphone, even if you did it 3-4 times
4) even if all the above went well… they might spell it wrong lmao. Or make a “mental note” of it but not wanna pull out their phone and forget later
5) half of those people who loved you enough to keep up with you and put your band’s name or Bandcamp in their phone, might not have a fucking instagram and therefore STILL won’t hear about the next time you come to town

so many hoops to jump through lol. At basically every show I find that we get a lot more follows and sell a lot more merch entirely because I make time to talk to everybody in the building before and after we’re done. Without making that personal connection people can just be lost at so many steps of the process.

Pulling out your phone and looking up an instagram tag or a Venmo is not a lot of work per se - but in internet terms, it’s been studied and cognitive load on your brain is cumulative / adds up. any amount of mental labor added on to an experience exponentially increases the chance they will no longer want to engage. it still requires a lot of effort and a lot of making their experience with your band feel more “personal” to get them to do it, at least when you’re semi-pro and you don’t have the allure / mystique / visibility of a fully professional band.

 

I tend to wake up around 7am everyday regardless of when i went to sleep and usually can't fall back asleep. used to be even worse and closer to 5 hours of sleep until i started taking a specific antidepressant that at a low dosage also helps with sleep.

they seem to be leaning into the camp which is fun. the first one wasn’t very good but it’s bc they’re tried to force too much trauma dumping and plot. just lean in and be peak dumb fun

 

also loved the final destination movie. criminally bad cgi but really fun script
