So I get to work and I’m sad af and tired af right? Still not adjusted back from tour, still reeling from a breakup this week

the tea / coffee specialist server “surprises” me with a whole training session for tea service that I didn’t ask for. Luckily for her I do need some additional hours but I was not ready for all that information and commitment today. It felt kinda like a manipulative and sneaky way to rope me into it because they weren’t proactive about hiring someone for that role.

the lead sommelier fuckin grills me about what wines I read about this week (answer: 0, leave me alone just this once bro, I’ve been back 3 days total)

Then service happens and like always, both of them have slow as shit service, they both crash and burn and me and the manager end up having to help them serve their tables. I got my own section under control but now I’m basically the server the whole restaurant wants instead cause I’m not freaking out and I’m actually keeping my timing in check.

It’s just funny to me that they come in here and lecture me about shit but you don’t see me try to lecture them about how to serve efficiently, even though I’ve been serving for 15 years and they’ve each been serving for like 2. Every weekend they fall behind and then every week they come back all egotistical again like they’re amazing servers.

Then the lead sommelier gets mad at me when there’s no server books left to put checks in - I keep ONE on me so I can keep all my closed checks together. There are like 15 others. If you can’t fuckin find them look at your own service habit of leaving them on the table / on the server station with unclosed checks in them where no one else can use them.

I come back here to the bathroom and the tea service server knocks on it twice like she can’t see that it’s occupied / locked. Nope, sorry, I’m hiding from y’all’s bullshit and on my phone, I will take my goddamn time with this #realshit thank you very much.

if yall think IM a lot… you would be very surprised to come to my restaurant and see im actually the chill one. Emma and Guy are both so fuckin intense and expect so much of their coworkers and then they go fuckin melt down on the floor. I am tired of carrying the team but being talked to like I still have the most to learn. Yall should be tipping me out and coming to ME for advice given how much I’m personally preventing your tables from leaving bad reviews and leaving mid dinner when it’s busy.

There is just no reason I should have to carry this much burden and spend that much emotional energy at the beginning of my shift when I’m going through shit, yall should be supportive of me right now, but Emma’s crying in the back and Guy is getting snappy about dumb minor shit and I gotta be dad on the floor right now, even though I wanted to fuckin call out and stay in bed today..

    Vibes Are Up Prestigious

    Texans Summary:

Round 2 (34), Jayden Higgins WR: Perfect landing spot for Higgins, he can comfortably take on the WR2 role opposite Nico Collins. Stroud must love this pick as well, another 6' 4" receiver with a 1.4% drop rate. Get it near him and it's a catch. Perfect.

Round 2 (48), Aireontae Ersery, OT: I was a fan pre-draft and glad he's the guy they got after moving out of the 1st and missing on those OL. Just a mountain of a man with a beautiful RAS score if you're into that kind of thing. Dude was wearing a 'Beware of Dog' shirt when he got the draft call, how can you not love that? Texans have their future OT tandem if he and Blake Fisher pan out.

Round 3 (79), Jaylin Noel, WR: I certainly wasn't expecting this pick after they drafted one WR but Caserio double dips here and keeps Higgins and Noel together. Both different skillsets that mesh with each other. Noel can take over the slot after this season as Christian Kirk becomes a FA. Also, if Tank Dell recovers fully the future WR corp of Nico Collins, Jayden Higgins, Tank Dell and Jaylin Noel is a nice mix of youthful WRs for Stroud. Cool.

Round 3 (97), Jaylin Smith, DB: Apparently someone was pounding the table for Smith in the draft room, per Caserio. Texans have been nailing their secondary picks so I bet he does good things. Versatile depth corner that's great against the run, and in the 94th % IGA. Fun facts are Calen Bullock was at his draft party, and he starred in Snoop Dog's Netflix series "Coach Snoop".

Round 4 (116), Woody Marks, HB: I think they valued his pass catching ability out of the backfield alot. Has some burst, just seems like a well-rounded back but nothing eye popping. I saw a comp to Travis Etienne. In the 4th, I think this is a fine pick if he's the back they liked. Don't feel one way or the other about it until we see him in training camp. Yes, the nickname Woody is from Toy Story.

Round 6 (187), Jaylen Reed, S: Really like this pick as Safety depth. Jaylen had mentioned the Texans as his favorite defense at the combine, and now he gets to play in it. Aggressive and fast, he and CJGJ should love each other. Nice pick here.

Round 6 (197), Graham Mertz, QB: I mean, sure, okay. Davis Mills is a FA after this coming season. I guess they may view Mertz as someone they want to get to know better as a future backup. He was a team captain for multiple programs in his collegiate career, Caserio loves that shit.

Round 7 (224), Kyonte Hamilton, (255) Luke Lachey: 7th round, not going to post a blurb.

Additional thoughts: I thought they could've taken a stab at another IOL to add to the competition for who starts this season. Also, even through all the maneuvering Caserio loves to do during the draft, they traded their own future 3rd in the deal with Miami. They still have their 1st, 2 2nds (own and WAS), and a NYG 3rd for next season. So good ammo for 2026 based on whatever pitfalls may happen.

Texans did really good with Higgins, Ersery, and Noel. I would not be shocked to see the remainders fail to make the team.

Overall, only 9 players got drafted that weren't on my board. Two of them I had heard of but just didn't do any research on and the third was the Raiders drafting a college QB that entered the draft as a WR and I just have no way of researching that. Earliest one taken of the remainders was Marcus Bryant at 220. not bad
