I just saw that Shedeur built a special room to watch the draft in, I wonder if he’ll keep watching in there tonight

If the concern is that maybe you have a bit of an ego and you don't have the talent to match it... then surely building yourself a draft celebration venue covered in your own branding, surrounded by yes men, and not going to and being a part of the NFL Draft celebration with all of your peers... is the right way to help improve that image.

    Swoos Draft Takes:

    Panthers:
McMillan certainly wasn’t my first choice. Or second tbh. I’m ultimately fine with it because I’m a homer and it’s not fun to be pessimistic in April. And I get why they did it. We had one of the weaker WR groups in the league last season. Adding a potential WR1 was a giant need and they seemingly filled that need with a guy they had near the top of their board. I’ve had my doubts with McMillan but I really like Canales and I just have to trust him. 6’5” WR with long arms, giant hands, big hops, YAC monster, and just overall a guy that consistently makes big plays. He had the lowest drop rate in P5. And while he looks “slow” on tape, his top in-game speed last season was 21.8 mph. The top in-game speed in the NFL last year was 22.36 mph. So speed isn’t an issue. I think we will work on his route running and if that improves, he can be really good.

We’ve invested SO MUCH into the offense over the last few years…

    #6 pick on a LT
All the stuff we gave up for Bryce
    #32 on XL last year
Day 2 picks on a TE and RB last year
Two 1K yard RBs on the roster now
Most expensive OL in the league
    Aggressive offensive HC

There are no longer any excuses for Bryce, or the offense as a whole. With those investments, the unit needs to be top 10 in the league or it is a failure, we will suck, and everyone involved can go.

    3 Draft Things I Liked:

Browns/Jags Trade: I actually loved it for both teams. For the Jags, yeah, it’s very aggressive. But I think Hunter is a superstar. Superstars are expensive. I think there are definitely ways to utilize Hunter on both sides of the ball. Love the idea of BTJ and Hunter as a WR duo though. And for the Browns, Mason Graham + #36 + a 2026 first rounder is a really nice haul. I’m a big fan of Graham and consider him a blue chip player in this draft. So while they didn’t get the best player this draft, they did very, very well imo.

Raiders: Ok, on one hand, a RB in the top 10 is bad value. BUT, I still love it!. I really just love the turnaround that the Raiders have had over the past year. Think back one year ago: they had a lame duck HC, Aidan O’Connell at QB, a disgruntled Davante Adams, and basically nothing else on offense. Now they have Pete Carroll + Chip Kelly on the sidelines, Geno Smith at QB, Brock Bowers at TE and Ashton Jeanty at RB. They still have some work to do, but at least there’s now a reason to care for their fans.

Colts: Everyone knew the Colts wanted a TE and all they had to do was sit and wait for Tyler Warren to fall to them. No other team had an easier decision last night imo. Love the pick for them. Just like with Bryce Young, there are no longer any excuses for Anthony Richardson. They have a stable of good WRs, a great RB, a good OL, offensive HC, and now a potential top tier TE. Everything is in place for AR to take the next step in his development. And if he doesn’t…they will be well-positioned to bring in a new QB with everything they have on offense.

3 Draft Things I (Kinda) Hated:

(I only say “kinda” because it’s too early to really hate anything in this draft. But there are a few things I struggle to understand the logic behind).

Falcons: Atlanta are the kings of “I love the players they draft but I hate how they do it”. And this is a little contradictory to some of my other points above, I know. But this is a team that spent consecutive top 10 picks on a TE, RB, and WR without having a real starting QB. Then, they paid Kirk Cousins a billion dollars. Ok, got a QB, I guess. But then in the same offseason used a top 10 pick on another QB. Now this year, they get lucky and have Jalon Walker fall to them. Great pick. Fills a big need. Good job. But then they trade up, giving away a future first, for ANOTHER pass rusher? I like Pearce, but man. The Falcons are just a really weird combination of simultaneously taking talented players but having pretty poor asset management. I don’t get it. But I’m sure Walker and Pearce will terrorize the Panthers for a decade.

Packers: I’ve mentioned this in the draft thread recently, but I just don’t see the urgency in drafting a WR so early this year for Green Bay. Like yeah, they don’t really have a WR1…but they have a handful of WR2s…and Golden will likely be….a WR2. I like Golden and all that. But I don’t know. Just really felt like they could’ve gotten a greater impact by drafting an EDGE, CB, or OL.

Side-note: their pick announcement was awesome.

Giants: Why? You were so close to doing the right thing and ignoring QB this draft. You took an elite prospect in Abdul Carter instead of falling for the QB like Tennessee. Then you move up for….Jaxson Dart. Yuck. I hate it. Most likely outcome from this: Dart sits to “learn from Russ” -> the team still struggles -> everyone is fired -> by the time Dart is “ready” to start, the people who drafted him will be gone -> they will still need a QB. I know it was a fairly cheap trade-up, but still dumb imo.

Sorry for the long post. Extra sorry that it’s about football. Have a nice day!

  22. I don’t get the draft value charts. I don’t think the Giants gave up much…why is the gap in points so large?

    future picks are typically discounted

    25 for 34, 99, future 3rd

    26, 101 for 46, 242, future 1st

Rams went back quite abit. I think people just look at rounds and not the actual pick placement.

  25. I guess 34 is high enough that it makes a big difference. But I’d still rather have the extra first next year.
