2. Document everything. Anything they tell you or want you to do needs to be communicated via email and you need to send everything to your personal email or save it to somewhere you can access if they terminate you.
3. Make sure the PIP is super specific and not vague. Demand in depth actions to take and not broad strokes.

At any decent sized company, its basically how they start documenting why they fired you. And to Spif's point, the real dick companies will make it vague stuff and basically be using HR against you the entire time in an unwinnable battle.

Also a pretty classic way for companies to retaliate against a whistleblower or someone who told an important person their idea was bad. Or against a woman who uses maternity leave, etc
