I will not deny that I think WFH is exceptionally better than working in an office or restaurant (both which I’ve done), and it’s a factor in why I like my job. And having the flexibility to do laundry, clean the litter box, and some days once in a blue moon play a video game during work is sick! Some weeks I don’t do 40 hours a work and having that flexibility while home is amazing, will never ever deny that.

I just think sometimes your posts or tone comes off as: “if you work from home you are lazy and stealing time.”

This has been an annoying conservative/republican driven talking point I’ve been arguing about for months as my wife has to go back in 5 days (don’t take the conservative part out of context obv lol) and it’s frustrating.

We all have hard work days whether I’m at home or at a Five Guys or your restaurant. Some weeks or months I’m working 40 hours unpaid, I’m stressed, I’m over worked, and sometimes I get a little bit of time to dink off. I think this is true for all, and yes, I like my dinking off to be at my house and it’s why I have this job

I worked from home for 2 years and vastly prefer being in office. was not remotely productive at home.

 

I really didn't like going into the office when I had to. Too many noises, annoying coworkers, people yelling, BUT we did get catered lunch 4 days a week, so that was pretty awesome. I'm going to do everything in my power to never have to go back to an office. The commute and time wasted around work isn't worth it.

 

your second paragraph makes me understand why people are thinking my sentiments are what you say in the first paragraph

and my response is, I am not a conservative / republican who expects you to just sit there lol. I am the opposite. I am saying “yes, stick it to the man, find ways to not have to be a work robot all the time”

 

ok officially ordered the live plants for my aquarium. once those arrive, i can set it up and cycle it for a month or so and then add shrimp/crabs

 

In no way am I saying “yall lazy mfs couldn’t handle a job where you can’t be on your phone” lol. So if that’s what we are being defensive about then rest assured that ISNT what I’m saying.

And there’s also tradeoffs. Yes it is cool that WFH jobs give you that flexibility, it is also cool that my job gives me more flexibility to sleep in and take random days off lol. I’m in no way saying “my job sucks” and taking it out on yall, I’m saying that’s a pretty sweet trade off also

 

There's also a pretty big difference between a salary job and an hourly job. I'm making a generalization obviously, but salary (for a good company, there are some out there lol) is way more relaxed with what you do during the day. You're being paid to be available basically at any time, but if you get your work done quickly, they generally do not give a shit what you're doing with the rest of your day.

An hourly job, you're there for a designated amount of time, so you generally have tasks assigned to you all day every day to fill those hours in the day, and you have waaaaaay less flexibility to fuck around.

There are pros and cons to both, but if you have an salary job that doesn't make you do overtime, it's legit

Another way to phrase it, with hourly, you need to "appear busy" for the assigned hours of your shift
