Yeah I wanted to say something like this but then I remembered I’m not a dad and have never dealt with Dad Stress so it’s not my place to say “raising your voice isn’t helpful” cause I’m sure sometimes it’s just not possible to be the best version of yourself when a kid has been insufferable for hours lol

 

So I decided to ask dads about those moments instead

Every parent loses their cool and composure and explodes. It just makes things worse though lol.

Yeah I get that kids are going to scream and cry in public for no real reason and I try to sympathize, but yelling at them certainly isn’t helpful either

 

Damn I thought this would be a good conversation starter lol. Nobody has any complaints about raising kids rn?

Randall it is hard to raise kids and I can see the appeal of being child free lol

 

I get the feeling parents don’t yell cause they think it’s gonna help anything, they just hit a breaking point and cannot bottle up their emotions anymore lol

 

My kids are the best but also there are things that can be difficult that I would not share on a public forum cuz it’s their thing to choose to share not mine

 

we're talking about having a kid(s) at some point but it'll happen when it happens. if not, I think we will be fine. My brother meanwhile has 4 so my parents are happy lol

 

My son has been telling me a lot lately, "dad you don't get mad. like ever." So the hard work to remain composed and calm when I want to melt into a puddle during a public tantrum has been paying off.

 

I really envy calm natured people lol

as you all have seen my emotions can and do get the best of me at times and I be irrationally upset

I am not a grump, generally a happy dude, but when that switch flicks it FLICKS and I have been getting better but I have such a difficult time with it haha

I think being able to tap into emotions more strongly would help me at times though. I remain too even, and it drives my wife CRAZY.

our daughter is in the 'aw, but why?' question to every single answer we give her and sometimes it makes me want to bang my head against the wall

but she's 3 so I won't be doing that
