I get hating on Texas for political reasons but I think it’s over-hated. Might not be the most “hip” state but it has very legit major cities (including two of the biggest 10 in the country) that are really cheap to buy a house in. that’s not really a thing almost anywhere else in the country, so I get how people from there are still content to live there even if they hate the politics and the weather

Houston, Dallas and Austin all have great food and great entertainment. I could see myself in Denton or South Austin.

 

i talk to my neighbors and they talk to me. they seem nice. sorry for being a NPC.

 

Texas is the same as basically every other big state (minus Florida) where the cities are pretty left leaning and the outskirts and blood red, except they’ve figured out how to keep their political system blood red

 

I thought for the longest time Austin was too expensive for me but I just checked recently and the south side of town I really like is cheaper than Baltimore is lol. I’d still pay more to live in Baltimore but like south and west Austin have a lot to like even if the city’s largest attractions are a corporate shell of the artsy weird culture Austin used to have

 

Austin is dope and I’d live there if it wasn’t for the weather

 

Our favorite neighbors just moved and now that house is empty. Our other neighbors are insane Catholics and are the most insufferable people and I wish they’d leave

Austin exploded because of tech around covid and that's swinging back to the west coast because of all of the AI companies, so I think Austin is going to be a little more affordable in the near term

 

This part in particular was a thing I definitely saw in north Austin - double decker highways filled with construction and stopped traffic - but not in South Austin. South side of the river is like a totally different animal haha
