Most of my close friends now I’ve known since my mid 20s but I still interact with people I knew as a teenager as well

I have one friend ive had since I was 3, he lives in Tampa and I can still contact him or his family any time, but he works in pharmaceuticals and I’m wary of the influence pharma bro culture has had on him, sigh

But yeah it’s weird to be caught between “that’s basically my brother and I’m happy to see him married and successful in his career and thriving” versus

“I would never work in American pharmaceuticals, I couldn’t in good conscience do that where healthcare is so extorted and capitalized, so that’s a hard moral difference between us… and we cannot talk about his job because he will justify inflating medical stock prices and valuing shareholders first and I will get pissed off”

there was a phase where he got real sexist and must have been watching a lot of… podcasts… and even though that chilled out once he got married, I’m nervous what other red pills he’s taken since he got in that career field

 

My closest friends all moved out of state by the time they hit their 30's and especially when they settle down it becomes harder to keep in touch.

I actually kinda had a falling out with my best friend a few years ago because he was mad that I never visited him in Salisbury Maryland. It's like I love you bro but I don't want to go to the most boring part of Maryland.

 

keeping up with friends has been a lot harder than I could have ever anticipated. I have the same friend group from elementary school and we all still text semi regularly about sports, but I haven't seen any of them since 2020. Didn't help that I moved away, but still.

I know I’m late but I’ve been busy. Open relationship/threesome sounds awful and anytime I hear about them I think of this Reddit thread where basically everyone who had one while in a serious relationship had their relationship end or ruined. Also just sounds exhausting.

My wife is definitely my best friend (and I’ve known her since middle school). I lost touch with most of my friends from Covid. My college friends all scattered after we graduated, and we kept in touch here and there but it definitely went down the tubes since Covid. My best friend from growing up got married to someone he met online and I never got to know her well and he sorta got absorbed into her family.

Now my wife and I are in a weird limbo where where friends without kids are always doing things with other people without kids. And our friends with kids kinda annoy us because we don’t agree with their parenting (and their kids are kinda monsters because of it)..

 

I have two friend groups, my college friends, and friends I made at my first job, and that’s like, 97% of my friends group lol.

 

Only keep in contact with two friends that I had while growing up. Changing schools while entering middle school lost me most of my original friends from when I was a kid. just wasnt easy to keep in touch back then. Of the two friends, one remains a real bud and helped me move states twice now (he loves it because it's the only way he'll ever leave AZ lol) and the other I kind of dont care about anymore.
