Classic homeownership. Take two months to do a two minute task.

 

Took us quite a bit to hang because that’s like 15-20 feet up and the ladders we have weren’t on the same level (one real ladder, one step ladder) and the picture itself is quite heavy cause it’s encased in glass so Jocelyn was on one ladder that was shorter than me trying to hand it off to me to hang it lol

 

I absolutely loathe hanging things on the wall

the engineer in me will not accept anything less than dead center

 

Are you an engineer or do you have a problem that needs addressing

This also took us a while we measured the entire wall to make sure we got it dead center and lined up the 3 drywall anchors lol

 

Skill issues

 

I hung a giant chandelier with Nadia’s dad at her parent’s house and thought someone was going to die.

 

It is I am the least handy person who has ever existed

 

Had 2 really good burgers today, made up for the weak July 4th burger

 

Registered for that Intro Somm course baby. It’s probably gonna be easy and teach me mostly stuff I already know. I’ve actually been training ahead for the Certified (level 2) exam for a couple months already

 

But, getting these exams is crucial to legitimizing my Somm career so I can get hired other places if I need to.

My current job would probably already consider me for the position if it became available again in a year or so, given the fact that I am very good at moving their inventory and my managers trust me. But tbh if that doesn’t happen then I want the ability to go get a well paying Somm job somewhere else, and another fine dining job who hasn’t already seen you work for 2 years probably won’t hire you for that position from scratch unless you have certifications

that said, being Somm at my current job and getting that experience first would be huge, my job deadass has the best and largest wine list of any restaurant in Baltimore so that would be huge for my future resume, and help me have more options than being a “Somm” for a place that only carries 30-50 bottles and only has one good example of each region’s wine. Place I work has multiple examples of bottles for like, 50 different wine regions and some of those regions we have multiple price tiers of that wine (like we have $100, $200, and $300+ white burgundies for example). So I get a ton of great experience already as assistant Somm

 

Back to work tomorrow and I’m kind of ready tbh. This week was super lowkey. My wife and I traded being sick for over half of the week but we got much needed rest.
