agree and disagree, my job clearly indicates and is up front in the job description about being responsible for monitoring some work and certain kinds of jobs after hours at a manager level, i agreed to take the job so i agree to these conditions. i'm paid pretty fairly, so i don't often complain. i do however think its bullshit for hourly workers to be expected to work a minute after their shift ends. i tell all my hourly employees to delete outlook and teams from their phones, no sense in even risking that temptation to involve yourself in something youre not gonna see a dime for after hours.

the notion that 'all work' ends hard at 5pm is silly, though.

I often check and respond to emails after hours and occasionally when I'm off/on vacation. #companyman

But also I'm not required to and no one would care if I didn't. I'd just rather take care of something simple in the moment if I have the time to do so rather than let it sit and either get forgotten or become a critical task later
