Like look there’s a lot of cities in the US I like more than Baltimore. But when we look at how few of those are as affordable, and how the ones that are affordable often have EXTREME summer or winter weather, that list of “better cities for Randall’s practical preferences” shrinks to like… 0 cities in 2025 lmao

 

I might rank Pittsburgh and Minneapolis above Baltimore if not for weather but I don’t like below 0 and I don’t like driving on steep inclines in snow and ice lol

Pittsburgh’s really a sister city though, they offer a lot of similar stuff, if anything Pittsburgh is even more grimy and working class but with the trade off of having even better nature and stronger city culture, and being so cheap it makes Baltimore look expensive. Meanwhile Baltimore is better in diversity, food, proximity to other great places to visit, walkability, and has a slight edge in architecture given how many gorgeous Victorian brownstones are everywhere (despite a less impressive skyline)

 

trumpy yes. but places like allentown and bethlehem have a lot of ex new yorkers and philadelphians so you get that north east crankiness up a notch ime. traffic there is hell too.

i visited scranton once and tiger jaws music made so much sense

 

will also go on record and say i enjoyed baltimore the couple times ive been there. if i were to relocate somewhere else on the east coast it'd be a top choice
