had a friend end up taking the extra ticket and we left at 9:15 am and got to Dodger Stadium by 12:15

game started at 1 and was able to enjoy the game and hang out at the stadium for a bit and got home around 9 pm.

Agreed, but also kinda feels like if you name your band somethign that absurd you arent shocked when it changes.

Im always remembering the band that opened for Mumford and Sons when I first saw them in Philly (this was as Little Lion Man was popping on MTV), it was a band called "The Middle East"...and even if they had had their shit together (they did not, they showed up 10mins late to their set, played 5 songs and left clearly all hating one another), that band had an almost comically short shelf life the second the country got too racist or decided we wanted another war in the Arab World. Its like naming your band "The Two Towers" because you liked Tolkein and wondering why your bookings started suffering in early 2002.

 

Good band though

Yes, for sure their best. Great listen start to finish and they hit you hard with them tender emotions throughout

They’ve released a lot of good music but Knife Man is still the album I keep coming back to. An easy start to finish, uninterrupted listen for me. Great lyrics, good balance of fun and emotion stirring, I should try to find it on vinyl.

music like that easily fills the same role for me as an adult that like pop-punk / scene music used to fill, AJJ is a great example that just cause you’re writing pop-punk / folk-punk music doesn’t mean you have to sound like a teenager and write about frivolous stuff. They have all the appeal of a Front Bottoms to me but with more substance to their subject matter. And it’s my personal preference to prefer the indie-rock style of “let your vocals be weird and slightly off sometimes, that’s your signature” that scene-adjacent bands like AJJ grew into, over the pop-punk style of “put a whiney affectation on your voice so you fit in stylistically with every other band that got influenced by Saves the Day and blink 182”
