I’m just trying to understand how, if they’re not mountains, why it’s MOUNT Lebanon and MOUNT Washington and MOUNT everything for the neighborhoods built on these “hills” and why it’s not Lebanon Hill, Washington Hill, etc. there is a Troy Hill but it’s not as tall as those

Because they were named hundreds of years ago by people that came from England that also had no concept of actual mountains and did not make it far enough west to see the Rockies before naming them?

 

I get the concept of, elevation less than 2000 feet is puny to people who live in or spent a lot of time in the mountain west / west coast, but to me it’s not even about elevation, it’s about steepness and how long the steepness persists. A 4000 foot high plateau, like west Kansas, is not a mountain. In Pittsburgh, where there are easily like 20-30% grades in most of its neighborhood streets, and you’re driving uphill for miles in any direction that you leave the city, the terrain is mountainous.

Scotland has actual mountains! And they had colonized areas that are very mountainous before America! It’s also not like they don’t have experience seeing the Alps!

It’s not bait, I genuinely don’t think it’s wrong to say it’s a mountainous area. West / central PA is full of mountains, Pitt is just built in a valley where its 3 rivers meet. Even if you could argue there’s no mountains IN Pittsburgh it’s still surrounded by them and is in Terrain that is similarly jagged and steep so I don’t see a need to differentiate

 

30-40 minutes to fold laundry, unless you have children and are doing the entire home’s laundry which I don’t think is happening from the post, feels a little wild to me

My perspective might be kinda skewed because I do literally all my laundry at once haha. It actually would be different if I had a laundry in-unit, I’d do a normal sized load at a time and just do it more often, but since going to the laundromat is a hassle I tend to save it all up until I am like running out of clothes. So yeah folding 70% of all my clothes sheets and towels / hanging up the ones that need hanging up, plus my compulsive nature to make sure there are no wrinkles and perfectly aligned creases, does take over a half hour lol

 

Dont need to be reading about randalls normal sized loads on my friday evening
