politics thread is truly the most depressing and intense/aggro place I have seen on the net and that's ignoring the content of the actual politics and news being discussed lol. just the vibes. bad place.

 

Idk I feel like the double standard IS pretty apparent even if it’s not a big deal. Most of us can make a bad joke and the thread will play along anyway and turn it into a meme, which is how friends usually treat each other. I make one and I have to hear about it from several people like I’m Peter Livingston and I have 8 bosses. But when I, a single person, tell someone else their joke is bad they get defensive about it! That has happened 3 times in the last week lmao. Like, if that one singular criticism bothers you then how can you not understand why the overt and uneven criticism of Randall posts gets to me sometimes lol

 

Probably is sad. Was dating Olivia Munn and shailene Woodley, was featured in commercials all the time. Was considered smart enough to guest host Jeopary for a couple of weeks. Basically had a whole post-NFL career lined up and was sitting pretty.

And now he's a "horse medicine cures COVID" level crazy person

 

I mean I do think it goes back to what @imthegrimace said about it being so long winded

I know that's just you and I agree with you but yeah it always comes across more serious than it actually is when it's longer winded than a typical "wow that post is bad". Just makes it hard to read the tone sometimes, beginning to think online might not be the best way to read tone

Murph makes a bad joke and 15 people tell him to shut the fuck up etc. and Murph just keeps posting (mostly bad jokes).

You make a bad joke and 4 people say that was really bad and you have to defend it and say everyone else makes bad jokes let me make bad jokes. You’re allowed to make em and people are allowed to dunk on you for them it’s no different.

 

overall mood improved when I stopped following it closely

not necessarily the thread itself that is bad but just constantly following the news and politics is extremely bleak

Yeah i go through phases of following and unfollowing that thread. i follow one podcaster on bluesky who posts more about politics than basically anyone else I follow but it isn't his whole thing

probably a correlation between the people in that thread the most and the people who are the most miserable posters though

 

do you not remember me saying “in hot they just call them dogs” was taking it too far in a lighthearted joking way and everyone fucking re-explaining the joke to me like it was so wrong that I said it was corny lol
