Apparently in all this, the Notre Dame AD revealed starting next year there’s a new rule that ND is guaranteed an at-large bid if they are in the top 12 of the final rankings. If this is true, at a certain point the conferences need to push back because their already easy path each year just gets easier and one team playing by a completely different set of rules is stupid.
But again Miami’s losses are worse than NDs. So to me it doesn’t make sense to award Miami over ND. I will say from an entertaining aspect I’m glad it’s Miami over ND. I just thought it was odd is all.
I don’t know. I think it’s a crazy argument. If two teams are ranked very close, have the same record, and have played each other, it feels extremely easy to pick between the two for me.
We also saw one of ND’s opponent’s HC come out a few days before they played and literally said they did not care about the result against ND because it wasn’t a conference game for them.
I don’t think it’s a crazy argument at all. I just believe losses against lesser opponents should carry more weight than you do. It’s all love my friend❤️
Sorry I didn’t mean for that to come across as mean haha yes, definitely all love. I’m not even a ND hater. Or a Miami fan. I honestly thought both deserved to be in. But the way it played out, there was only one spot for the two schools. Someone was getting left out. And it’s the team that lost to the other. Makes perfect sense to me.
Oh you weren’t being mean whatsoever. I could just tell the back and forth was getting to a standstill. I don’t think you’re completely wrong either. I feel like we shouldn’t even need to have this discussion if they kicked out Bama.
Yeah, if you wanna talk about bad losses…Bama losing to FSU is the worst loss of anyone in the playoffs…they just also somehow have the best win of anyone in the playoffs lol It’s a fairly impossible task to make this playoff with no one being upset. I’m starting to lean more and more into the idea the these huge conferences created more of a mess than they ever anticipated. I don’t get the point of them tbh. Other than to make money. Like, why do you need 16-18 teams in a conference when you only play 8 conference games and don’t like having divisions? How are you really going to determine a true conference champ with that much variability in schedules within the conference? I miss the simpler times lol small conferences ruled.
College football is such an unbelievable disaster right now. Its insane. The bowl system is officially dying. Notre dame is allowed to make new rules to benefit them? Coaches saying fuck the playoffs? The chaos is hurting the sport
I just read that alongside ND being guaranteed in if they're in top 12 next season, SEC, B10, B12, and ACC champs (and highest G5 champ) are all guaranteed next season as well. Duke would've replaced JMU and ND would've replaced Miami this season in that case.
It doesnt matter because theyre gonna just change the rules again and expand the playoffs every year until they get every marquee program playing "meaningful" playoff football in December.
His brother (not good) transferred and we fired his uncle (even worse) so people are speculating. Thing is, his brother had absolutely no shot of ever playing for us. And Raiola was literally injured because of how bad of a job his uncle was doing. He could definitely be waiting out and seeing how the dominos fall after the playoffs before transferring but I don't think those two had anything to do with it. If he leaves, he leaves. People will be upset but people are also dumb. Just gotta hope the Trae Taylor era is good
