Ole Miss got what they paid for. Kiffen has done this shit time and time again. They can’t really be surprised. The thing is I think he has just as good of a chance winning at Ole Miss than LSU, but LSU’s fanbase will turn on you much quicker. I’d laugh my ass off if Kiffen flopped and got fired within 3 years lol
I think he has a much better chance of winning a title at LSU. I could be proven wrong. It’s a crazy sport. But they clearly get more elite talent than Ole Miss. I think with his offense and the talent LSU always gets…he could have some scary teams. I think at Ole Miss he’s completely maxed out what you can do with that program. Also, everything will just be a little bit easier with LSU (the recruiting and money).
ALSO… He left for a bigger and better job. That is not unusual. It happens every year to several schools. I’ll say it over and over.
The problem isn't Lane going to LSU. It's how and when. Which is much more a problem with the collegiate football calendar than him specifically. He's just been a perennial sideshow that it now has come to this, where he's dominating headlines the same week there's ~18 teams vying for 12 spots in the pinnacle of the sport.
I don’t think it’s his fault that he’s stealing the headlines though. Like, what was he suppose to do differently that would’ve meant less headlines? It’s just a product of how the whole sport is setup. I really hate being the Lane defender haha it doesn’t feel right. I just haven’t seen anything that explains how he is wrong that isn’t: don’t take the LSU job.
I mean he sure does do a lot to draw those headlines to himself From a fan of the sport perspective though I go as far as "this weird LeBron-esque media tour is lame" and I leave it at that. Anything beyond that where it's like "LANE IS RUINING CFB" is ridiculous for sure
I think the stuff around the Penn State search is crazier than what happened with Kiffin tbh lol An agent seeking vengeance because you fired his client? Now that’s a juicy story!
Not for nothing by all accounts the players also seemed incredibly excited when it was announced Golding was taking over and were kinda like fuck lane sick of that guy when he tried to talk to them
i have seen many posts on bluesky about various people/business owners in the oxford area seemingly glad that lane is gone lol
If he needs the absolute best situation in the world to compete, hes not worth the money. An elite coach is not maxed out at Ole Miss
Ultimately, Ole Miss is the big loser no matter what. On the bright side you have the opportunity to win a championship with Pete Golding (lol). That would be infinitely better than winning it with Lane and having to see him gloat and make it all about himself.
i figure he’s gone but I also figure Gunner starts next year and Puglisi starts the next two and it’s a tough sell to a top QB prospect to sit on the bench for 3 years
