Texas and Penn State both dropping all the way out of the rankings seems a bit much imo but it’s very funny and I don’t have any strong feelings about it but goddamn are the people that do the rankings at this point in the season pissed lmao

Texas also was over ranked at 9 in the first place so this feels like making up for that

PSU absolutely should be completely out. UCLA is a pitiful team.

I saw someone say “I really expected UCLA to go defeated” and I’ve never heard it phrased that way before and I loved it.

Why is USF still ranked for beating Boise State and UF lol

If Boise State is considered a good win for ND, I think is the thought. And then Florida beat Texas so… best guess.

    1. Ohio State
    2. Oregon
    3. Miami

The definitive top three best teams right now. Absolutely do not care what order you have them, but these are the only three right now.

    4. Indiana
    5. Texas Tech

If not for Iowa I might humor Indiana in that first tier. The advanced metrics are very good and place them right there with the top three. They've still got a bit more to prove for me before I entertain that though.

    6. Alabama
    7. Oklahoma
    8. Georgia
    9. Mississippi
    10. Texas A&M

Like Tier 1, I don't care what the order is. They've all got statement wins, they've all got concerning losses/near losses. Mississippi and A&M also have a long-storied history of disappointing down the stretch. Won't pretend like that isn't a factor right now.

    11. Missouri
    12. Tennessee

Doesn't feel right but can't justify them any lower

    13. Notre Dame

I cannot believe I have been forced to 180 on Notre Dame this year. I am usually an unapologetic hater but the 0-2 start had people talking crazy. This is a good team.

    14. Illinois
    15. USC
    16. Michigan
    17. LSU

You could just as easily argue against them being ranked but their arguments for being ranked are stronger than any remaining team. Lotta ups and downs. Lot of work needs to be done. I imagine 2 finish well and 2 finish on the rankings bubble. Idk which.

    18. Vanderbilt
    19. BYU

By this point in my rankings, these two just stood far ahead the rest. I don't really believe they are that much better than the teams below, but I'll just use the "data said this" excuse here.

    20. Nebraska
    21. Texas
    22. Cincinnati
    23. Kansas
    24. Utah
    25. Florida State

SCREAMING red flags but at the same time, some incredibly impressive parts of these teams. Texas's defense is elite but their offense has been abhorrent. Kansas will go as far as Jalon Daniels can take them. Nebraska's defense has been good but their offensive line has been awful and it's affecting the QB play. Utah is Utah, we know this. FSU and Cincy both have excellent offenses and an absent defense.

Accidentally posted this first in the soccer thread, but:

I know there’s a lot of CFB yet to be played, but there’s not an insignificant chance that Miami just lost their ability to play a home playoff game with that Barcelona-Villarreal game being announced. Best case scenario, they'd get Friday night, Barcelona Saturday, Miami Sunday. That's a lot of work for the stadium crew.

Yeah, they're tracking for a bye, but I don't think it's unlikely they have a hiccup.

    USF, hot damn.

A defense-optional Tennessee-USF game could break scoring records.

Today Oklahoma State is starting a QB that:

Spent 2 years as a backup QB for TCU
Spent 1 year as a QB at Cal, starting 3 games
Switched to WR at Auburn last year
Started this season as a WR at OK State
