The more and more literally everyone but Joey Aguilar got the courts to agree with them, the funnier it becomes ngl
I looked into it, the judge that ruled on the case was a retired judge they called to do the case and from what I saw doesn't have ties to the school but who knows. The first judge was a Tech grad and recused himself.
But yeah he should never be allowed to play in college again. Sets it up for kids to keep gambling if they can just get a judge to rule in their favor.
wild to see someone in this day and age recuse themselves due to a conflict of interest that shit never happens anymore
I mean, if the NCAA doesn’t have the enforcement ability to ban a guy who bet on his own team then it’s basically game over. There’s no trust that a last second pick six that changes the spread was a legitimate mistake or did he have action on the game. Different sports is one thing, but betting on your own team calls on the integrity of everything.
he bet on a team he was redshirting on two teams and four years ago and made up less than 1% of the total bets alleged. like, not saying it isn't a big deal, but ultimately it's more concerning/alarming to me than something the ncaa deserves to get pity/has a right to be self-righteous over.
But where does it stop? That’s just the bets he’s admitted to at this point. How do we know he didn’t bet on Cincy games last season? The NCAA sucks, but even they can be on the right side sometimes. If there’s no enforcement authority then what’s the point of them? I’m not going to get mad at an institution that, at least in this case, is trying to do the obvious right thing and getting stopped by pure shamelessness.
They announced last night that Tennessee-Texas is a noon kickoff. First ever on campus game between two of the most historic programs in the sport, Checker Neyland... Who thought "yeah, let's make that noon"? SEC slate that week isn't that strong, either. Oklahoma-Georgia, LSU-A&M, Ole Miss-Florida, Vandy-Auburn, Bama-Scar, Mizz-Miss St.
My buddy and I are going and we kept going "this is gonna be a noon scorcher" until they announced the time.
