It’s a confusing age of college sports we live in, but yeah this is why Dante is considered a RS Soph despite having started his freshman year at ucla and sitting out last year
current reporting/rumor in Knoxville is LSU/Lane announced this before it was actually decided and Leavitt is still highly considering the Vols lol
i guess ultimately they have the same amount of years of eligibility so it won’t change much but its just crazy we have six year starters still trying to play another year lol ... i suppose that will phase out soon though once we get out of the shadow of the 2020 year
A) paves the way for just five flat years of eligibility B) removes players "opting out" because they decided to transfer, effectively quitting on a team C) helps alleviate late season injury crisis by having more players available
How does it help B and C? Now you would just have people opting out later in the season...and those players are then not available for the "late season injury crisis"? And is A even a good thing?
There are plenty of players on every sideline redshirting who aren’t transferring to help C. A is a good thing in that it would pretty much eliminate all litigation/appeals/etc. Rule clarity and clear guidelines are always better. It’s like 95% of these guys are never going to the pros. Let them have one extra year.
I'm saying if a player is redshirting they would have played their 9 games by the end of October and arent helping the late season injury crisis, unless you are just referring to bodies in practice and not games. A would eliminate some of the litigation/appeals, yes. I'm just of the opinion that 4 years playing is enough.
They don't have to play the 9 games sequentially. Michigan isn't going to trot out many 18 year olds vs Michigan State, Penn State, Ohio State, Oregon, etc. But they absolutely could against the Purdues and Rutgers of the world whenever they appear in a season to get them more experience.
Ic, yes that would hold guys onto rosters longer for sure. Hadnt thought about it in that sense. I'm still not sure thats a good thing lol. Being able to appear in 75%-ish of games and still not count it? Doesnt seem right.
Dante, Matayo, Teitum, Washington, Bear Alexander, Evan Stewart all back year two Dak Moore, year two of the Hill and Davison backfield gonna be special
Great for Oregon, terrible decision for Moore. Hate to break it to him who will be drafting a QB in 2027 if he’s scared of the Jets lol
